SIP Communicator
Note: SIP Communicator is now known as Jitsi, but you can still use the below instructions to configure your software to work with OnSIP.
Step 1: Gather information for each user.
Each user has a set of credentials which will be needed to configure each phone. For each phone that you are configuring, obtain the following:
- SIP Address (Address of Record)
- SIP Password
- Auth Username
- Username
- Proxy/Domain
- Web Password
You can find this information in the user detail pages under the Users tab in the Phone Configuration section.
Step 2: Configure your SIP Communicator software settings.
Access the software settings. Go to Preferences. This will put you at Accounts. At the bottom of the screen, click "Add."
You'll be given a Network drop down menu. Select "SIP" from the drop down.
You'll get a new screen. Select Advanced.
Under the Account tab, enter the following information from Step 1 above:
Account
- SIP id > Address of Record.
- Password > SIP Password
- Display Name > Whatever You Would Like
- Domain > Domain
Connection
- Registrar > Proxy/Domain
- Authorization Name > Auth Username
- Configure proxy Automatically > ensure this is NOT SELECTED
- Proxy > sip.onsip.com Port is 5060
- Voicemail: Leave Blank
- DTMF method: Choose RTP (RFC2833/RFC 4733)
Security
Uncheck "Enable support to encrypt calls"
Presence
Uncheck "Enable presence (SIMPLE)"
Encodings
Make no changes to the default settings of G722, PCMU, opus/telephone-event and H263 video.
Select Next and then Sign In. You will now be able to make and receive calls through OnSIP.
Step 3. Setting up XMPP / Chat
You should still be at Accounts. At the bottom of the screen, click "Add." You'll be given a Network drop down menu. Select "Jabber" from the drop down. Once more, select "Advanced."
NOTE: For this section you will need the same credentials as your my.OnSIP.com account. The password is different from your SIP Password used above.
Account
- Jabber Username > SIP Address
- Password > Web Password
Select Advanced and un-check the following
Use ICE
Auto Discover STUN/TURN server
Use SIP Communicator's STUN server in case no other severs are available.
Step 4. Confirm that your phone is registered.
In the User portal, click on the "Users" tab. You will see a green "online" notation next to each user with a registered phone.
You should now be able to place and receive calls.
