Panasonic Phones
Panasonic_KX-TGP500
Update: The latest firmware - 12.35 - has been tested in the field and appears to be compatible with OnSIP. More testing is needed, but the preliminary indications are good.
Please note, when upgrading the firmware, you must re-enable the WWW interface on the phone to make changes. Press [MENU] and then [#][5][3][4]. Next use the up/down arrows select "On" for "Embedded web" and then [SAVE].
Step 1: Gather information for each user.
Each user has a set of credentials which will be needed to configure each phone. For each phone that you are configuring, obtain the following:
- SIP Address (Address of Record)
- SIP Password
- Auth Username
- Username
- Proxy/Domain
You can find this information in the user detail pages under the Users tab in the Phone Configuration section.
Step 2: Configure your Panasonic software settings.
To get the IP address of your basestation, on a handset which has been registered to the basestation, select Menu -> IP service -> Network Setting -> IP Settings. Enter that address into your web browser. The username is "admin" and the password is "adminpass."
Select the Voip tab at the top and then choose line 1.
User Details
- Phone Number > Any Number to identify this account
- Line ID > Username
- Registrar Server Address > Domain
- Outbound Proxy Server > sip.onsip.com
- SIP Server Domain > Domain
- Password > SIP Password
- Authorization user name > Auth Username
Scroll down and hit save. The phone will then attempt to register.
Step 3. Confirm that your phone is registered.
In the User portal, click on the "Users" tab. You will see a green "online" notation next to each user with a registered phone.
You should now be able to place and receive calls.

Settings for the 12.06 firmware
Finally got it working, here are the settings that seem to work:
Phone number: extension
Line ID: Username
SIP server: all addresses company domain and all ports to 5060
Outbound proxy: sip.onsip.com port 5060
Service domain: company domain
Source port: 5060
Authentication ID: Auth Username
Make sure to disable STUN
Also, this phone seems to be more sensitive to router settings. Make sure ALG and other settings are disabled. My Acrobits softphone and Polycom phones tested on the same network didn't really seem affected.
hold music?
Hey Guys,
Anyone have any tips on getting hold music to work with the TGP-550? For me, pressing "hold" essentially does the same thing as "mute"...
Same issue here with the
Same issue here with the hold button acting as mute... would also appreciate pointers/help with this.
Compatiblity with OnSIP
We really want to use this but I'm getting mixed signals as to whether this phone works with OnSip. An OnSip rep just told me these have issues transferring calls internally. Has anybody had any issues with this. We want to use this with OnSip because its the best priced solution for using a mobile handset system.
works for us
We are using these in two locations and are are not experiencing any issues with transferring. I was able to upload a company phone book with the SIP extension of each employee, and people use this to reach each other within the company. To transfer to an extension, you just press Menu then select the Transfer option.
One thing to keep in mind (and this appears consistent with other brands) is that each base station only supports 3 simultaneous calls being routed through the SIP server. The base supports 6 handsets, but only 3 can be used at a time. A call placed on-hold counts as one of the 3 calls. The way around this is to purchase more base stations and associate only 2 or 3 handsets to each base.
need help
could some one be kind enough to publish screeshots of the setup screen for this phone? (of course, removing or masking the confidential data)
I really like this phone but I can't make to work...
thanks in advance.

Re: MoH
Music on Hold (MoH) will only currently work with Polycom phones and OnSIP. In order for MoH to work, the phone must support a MoH server SIP address. Behind the scenes, the phone sends a update to the original call to tell OnSIP that audio for the call is now being handled by the MoH server. When the call is taken off hold, the phone sends another update to tell OnSIP that the phone will regain control of the audio for the call. Panasonic phones do not currently have this ability.
