Outbound Proxy Recommendation

Q: What is an "outbound proxy"?

An outbound proxy is a host you send all your SIP requests to.

Q: Should it be configured?

Yes.

While there are some perfectly valid circumstances where configuring an outbound proxy is not desired, unless you have a concrete reason not to and clearly understand what you are doing, we strongly recommend you configure an outbound proxy for your devices utilizing Junction Network's OnSIP Hosted PBX service.

Q: If I choose to configure it, what should I set it to?

sip.onsip.com

While there are other settings which may work, and while there are also completely valid circumstances where a network administrator may require a different setting, the only setting that we currently support for outbound proxy is 'sip.onsip.com' (leave off the quotes please).
