Click to Call - Firefox Add-on

Click on any phone number on any web page and your phone dials the number!

How does it work?

  1. See phone number.
  2. Click phone number.
  3. RRRRING!

This Firefox add-on locates telephone numbers in web pages and converts them to Click-to-Call links on the fly.

When you roll over a phone number with your mouse, you will see the number change to a link:

When you click on one of these links, a call is placed to your OnSIP SIP address. When you answer, the call is patched through to the telephone number.

You need an OnSIP account to use this Firefox add-on and standard calling rates will apply.

Install

You can obtain the add-on here. Or search addons.mozilla.org for "onsip". Or in Firefox, choose Tools, Add-ons. From the add-ons menu choose "get add-ons" and search for onsip.

Configure

  1. After installing the Click-to-Call plugin it must be configured with your OnSIP user address in order for it to place the first leg of the call setup. To configure go to the Firefox Tools menu and select "Add-ons".
  2. From the "Add-ons" window select the OnSIP Click-To-Call plugin and press "Preferences"

    click to call addon

  3. In the OnSIP Options pane enter your OnSIP user address into the text input area.

    click to call prefs

  4. Click 'OK' and you should be all set

Troubleshooting

If you see the following error when you try to perform a click-to-call setup then please see the section above titled "Configure"

click to call error unconfigured

Hi - Sorry you are having an issue. We just tested this on 3.0.19 and it appears to work fine. It's also working on 3.6.2 and 3.6.3, and known to work on various revisions in between. Have you tried to re-install?

Thanks - I'll check it further

I updated my FF to 3.0.19 with no problem but our co-worker had a problem. After disabling the add-on and re-enabling and restarting FF it was working.

So it's officially safe to use 3.6.X? I have been avoiding it because I can't give up my click-to-call.

Thanks for the rapid response on this!

Doug

Anyone have any experience making this work with Zimbra and Firefox? Zimbra's AJAX programming for phone numbers when you pull up a contact card, overrides the firefox click to call add on.

ONSIP Firefox Add On

I am using firefox 3.6.3, and have installed the onsip click to call 3.0.3 application. I have set the options to inlcude my user address.

Although the instructions say that when I scroll over a phone number I will be able to click it, absolutely nothing happens when I scroll over any phone number on a web page.

Any idea of what to do?

Hello - I would try the following:

- Verify you are using the proper SIP address

- Restart your browser

- Verify the add-on is turned ON (button in the bottom-right corner)
